This is an early Jerry Richert sprint car with a roll cage and square tail tank bolted on to make it "supermodified legal." It was common in this area to run sprint cars in different configurations as modified racing was very popular. A side note, this car was kept at Auto Repair Service across the street from the State Fairgrounds. I lived a few blocks from the fair and us kids would hang around the garage watching them work on the car through the window.
